Degree Objectives

As a Game Art and Animation student I have learned many skills utilized in the professional field. Part of my learning involved creating works that followed specific objectives to prove my acquired skills.

Game Art and Animation Degree Objectives

1. Demonstrate and communicate aesthetic skills and choices based on traditional art theories and current game development practicesand next generationresearch.

2. Conceptualize and generate pre-production art assets through pre-visualization and prototypes usable for multiple game platforms.

3. Demonstrate the core skills needed to create 2D and 3D art assets, textures, and animations utilizing industry-standard software tools.

4. Create industry quality 2D and 3D art assets (such as characters, props, textures, environment elements, and collision objects) or animations (keyframed and motion capture character, environmental and FX) for use in game projects utilizing industry-standard software tools, pipelines, and platform guidelines.

5. Adapt, export, integrate, and optimize game art and animation assets (including shaders and lighting) into 2D and 3D game projects working within a production pipeline and the confines of a project’s game engine, tools and other constraints.

6. Establish collaboration, mentorship, and professional leadership skills by working with other disciplines to deliver highly polished and completed projects.

Anatomy Sculpture

I used traditional sculpting methods to create anatomically correct models with Clay on a wire armature.

Anatomy Sketches

I practiced drawing a creature's anatomy and human anatomy in a traditional format in order to learn proportions using Paper and Pencil.

I used digital sketching methods based on traditional methods to create anatomically correct sketches with Infinite Painter.

Elf Girl Concept Art

I created full concept for a 3D character in a 2D digital format using Procreate and created a concept sculpt of the character in ZBrush.

Concept Art

I created concept for a person, location, and prop with the them of Medieval Egyptian using Procreate.

Rainy Days Animatic

I created an animatic voiced by me and my husband about a husband worried about his wife using Procreate and Adobe After Effects.

Collaborative Cuphead Style Inca Concept Art

Working in a team I created concept for a Cuphead styled boss, including secondary boss elements using Procreate.

I created concept for a Dragon holding a magical Fox plush using Procreate.

Textured and Colored
Models

I created various 3D models and used both unwrapping and in software tools to texture or color the models using 3DS Max and Maya.

I used digital sculpting methods based on traditional methods to create anatomically correct models with ZBrush.

I textured the outfit and hair in this model as well as 3D modeled the hair, tail, and scrunchies using VRoid Studio.

I textured the outfit and hair in this model as well as 3D modeled the hair, wings, tail, bracelet, and earrings using VRoid Studio.

I animated a character sprite that is polished and game ready using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

I polished a motion capture animation in Motion Builder.

I animated a car in a looping animation using Maya.

I created art assets for a 2D platformer game using Adobe Photoshop and Construct.

I worked as project lead and art lead in a team on a 2D platformer game using Adobe Photoshop and Construct.

I animated and implemented a cutscene into Unreal Engine using Maya and MotionBuilder.

Animation Implementation

I implemented the Motion Capture animations that I polished into Unreal Engine for the player's basic movements.

Covid Crusaders

I worked as a project lead and art lead on a completed and first place winning card game using Procreate and Playingcards.io.

Fizzling's Funhouse

I worked as a project lead and art lead on a game for a kids TV video game adaptation. I also received a MVP award for excelling in the team.
